Registered Nurses - West Dublin

My client, a nursing home based in West Dublin is expanding and requires a number of staff nurses

The client will accept applications from RGNs, RNIDs and pyschiatric nurses.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Registration with An Bord Altranais
• Full knowledge of An Bord Altranais guidelines on Medication Management and HIQA standards for older person care
• Full knowledge and understanding of Care Plan Standards
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Customer service skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to instruct/teach/tutor
• Ability to receive telephone inquiries in a tactful, helpful manner
• Ability to respond to emergency situations and unpleasant elements
• Satisfactory Garda Clearance
• Full compliance with HIQA requirements

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Delivers direct resident care; assesses residents physical, psychosocial and/or emotional needs;
• Safe administration of medications as assigned, recording of medications; as per An Bord Altranais guidelines.
• Ordering of medications from Pharmacies on a daily basis
• Liaise with GP/doctors regarding residents condition
• To work and have full knowledge of the policies, procedures and standards as laid down by the Nursing Home. 
• Assist residents in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual). Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring residents retain their comfort and dignity.
• Closely monitor residents who may be confused and / or who have behavioural problems.
• Assist in the delivery of care for residents who are dying or who have a progressive illness.
• Answer Nurse Call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone when required. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly.
• Make Visitors feel welcome. Provide assistance as and when required. 
• Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying and the bereaved, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.

Salary: €17-€18 per hour DOE
